I suspect that there is a blockage in the washer line between the pump and the jets on the bonnet. The pumpswitches on and whirs when it is asked toand presumably pumps ok, the bottle is full but nothing comes out. Does anyone know the best way to get at the pump to either clear the lines or to check if the pump is pumping fluid or is there a filter tucked away. The tubes disappear down into the bowels of the engine bay and short of growing two foot long fingers or stripping out loads of other stuff or turning the car upside down i'm out of ideas of how to get at it. Am i missing an easy trick - probably - help

To access the washer reservior and pump (which is in the tank) you have to:

1 Jack the car up
2 Remove the offside front Wheel
3 Remove the Wheelarch Liner (may need to remove mud flap to do this if fitted)

Polisher is right about the probable cause. I had this problem on my 04 zetec 6 months ago. Luckily I had an aftermarket warranty that covered a new pump. All that needs doing though is cleaning up pump and reservoir.

I have had to replace the washer pump on my CMAX when it was 2 years 9 months. I did it myself since the Ford garage said if it was the pipes that were blocks that wasn't covered under warrenty but if it was the pump it would be. So I set off taking it to bits and found that there was a lot of slime built up on thefilter on the outlet of the pump, so I tried cleaning that but it didn't help, so I replaced the pump and it was OK. So it was the pump in the end.
