Iwas reading an article in Autocar in which a company (RinSpeed) has developed a new engine for the Fiat 500 Arbarth.

Its just a shame that as this technology is already available that its not being used by mainstream manufacturers.

Who wouldn't want a car with two power modes to save fuel: a lower bhp setting for urban driving and a higher bhp mode for driving on open roads.

Rinspeed claim that for the Arbarth....... In commuting mode the car is claimed to return 70.6mpg (using only 59bhp), and in highway mode that decreases to 40.3mpg (because the bhp increases to 158).
and in a car that probably weighs as much as a Corn Flake.
