Hi!
Have just joined the CMax club. Bought an 04 reg.1.8 ghia a few weeks ago and find there is a lot of road noise. The steering follows every white line and the suspension feels quite hard. The car was shod with Goodyear Eagle tyres just before I bought it. At the recommended pressures it is even worse and crashes and bangs over every little bump ( I have reduced the pressures by a few pounds). Anyone else suffer the same?

Tyres do make a difference. My car from new has had Continental tyres, and they don't tend to tram-line, though there is a fair bit of road noise. I'd do a search for reviews of those tyres to see what they're like.

I've just had two new continental front tyres put on (expensive!), and they seem a lot better, much quieter.

The suspension on the C-Max is quite hard, especially compared to the soft suspension you find on french cars. However I do find it's a comfortable ride with virtually no body-roll, so I've not really had your experience.

hi mate
i have a 54 plate 2.0 c max ghia ultima ,with 17'' alloys 205 x50 good year eagles ,i needed to replace the front 2 tyres due to wear ,i also get road noise at first i thought the wheel bearings had gone but no ,i had the car inspected and thats how they are .i was told the tyres are eagle run flats ,yes you can drive 40/50 miles on a flat tyre but road noise increase and hard ride. this is normal ,but going into corners the car sticks to the road like sh*t to a blanket.drive safe
cheers martin
