I have recently had problems with the turbo on my c-max 04 reg 2.0 tdci, a diagnostics check has revealed that there is a problem with the boost pressure performance. I recently changed the air filter and wondered if I have done anything to disturb something or is it a little more sinister. A complete loss of turbo and power although car running smoothly.Any one with similar problems?

Have you had the manifold pressure sensor checked?
Apparently this controls the turbo boost by comparing the actual pressure with a known value stored in the brain that vary by measuring several other parameters.

Strange this.Just been out to pick up son & cars fine now,if anything slightly quicker
.Anyway,it`s in for service & MOT in morning, then off for some time on a rolling rd to find out how much power I have with/without airfilter & Tunit box,Should be interesting
.I`ll let you all know tomorrow nite how things went.

I think i'd start with the manifold pressure (boost pressure) sensor or something around the turbo wastegate as it hasn't got the variable geometry

Was it you who said that it was possible to read the voltage values from the sensors rather than just the fault codes?

(reasoning being that if it can't tell what the pressure it, it limits the engine speed to limit the turbo boost)

Might also check all the turbo intercooler connections

Good Evening,
Firstly I would like to say that I have just joined the forum and found it to be extremely useful.
I too am having a problem with loss of turbo function on a 54 plate 2.0 Tdci Ghia with 75k on the clock. The engine runs nicely otherwise and does not pour out any smoke beyond the usual.
The MIL light is on and after having the codes read at a ford specialist am told that it relates to a boost pressure issue. However they fitted a known working sensor which made no difference and have suggested that they will need the car for 2 days or so to investigate. Pricey

I have also removed and cleaned the EGR valve, replaced the MAF sensor as I have read that these are common problems.
MetalMicky08, have you managed to sort yours out?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Many Thanks

Hi & welcome

Since the service & mot,it`s been fine.At the service they did NOT change the air filter as I told them not to cos it`s a K&N.When I took it to the rolling rd & took out the filter, there was no dust/deb/leaves etc.I can only think there may have been a loose pipe/joint which was tightened up during the service.
