Hi all,

I have the automatic transmission on my LX 04 model C-Max. Every now and then the onboard computer tells me that I have a transmission malfuction.

The only way to correct this is to:

pull over,
go into park,
switch off,
wait a few seconds,
switch on,

Thisclears the problem and I can again drive normally? My local Ford dealer can't find a fault? Has anyone had this happen and if so how did you sort it out?

Thanks

Hi all,

I have since found out that in 2005 Ford suspended the Auto Diesel model due to "Transmission Problems"!!!

So, any of us with a pre-05 model are being left to pick-up the large repair build as the transmission tends to fail out of the warranty period. This means Ford are dumping a £3000 bill on our laps!

THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT FORD IS HOPING THE CUSTOMERS WILL BE LANDED WITH THE BILL FOR THEIR FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS!!!

hi, I'm a newby on this forum
had major problem with my 04 C-Max TDCI auto
I'm getting it from a tramsmission specialist tomorrow,my auto gear box failed,7.5 months out of warenty,Ford still deciding whether to offer a goodwill payment.
Ford quote about £3500.+ £400 as the gear assbly went as well.
So not had gear box done at Ford garage as I could not afford it, half price at specialist garage.

Bad luck, but still hope if I do more research into why 04 diesel models have a different tramsmission unit Ford may pay something toward my costs.
how is your car now

We waited 5 weeks to see if Ford would do it as a good-will repair and they came back with no, due to the fact that we were a couple of thousand miles over average mileage!

This whole thing has left a bad taste and my family and I will never buy a Ford again.

They must have known about a problem with the transmission otherwise why would they have suspended production on 05.

Don't hold your breath for Ford's good-will, they have very little of it!

how depressing
I got my car back yesterday,an excellant company, worth taking it 100mls.
Of course has had to replace the samr 04 model as naturally only one model fits this car, so problem is will it last, has guaranteee for 1yr,but original went after 3.5yrs & 29000 mls.
It seems this transmission unit was only used from 04/04-02/05,and replaced the excellant 03 model as I was told that Mercedes aquired the model Ford wanted.
I am still interested if anyone else but me had a unit that completely failed.
Also surely others will fail or need repairing, like when when out of warrenty.
Very puzzling and very expensive
