Hi has anyone experianced the problem that i have got with my C-max?
Intermittently when turning right the sterring wheel becomes stiff and i have to give it a hard pull before it comes back to life, when i do that the whole car jumps to the right. when the car is stationary and you turn the wheel it is fine, also when turning left everything is fine.
I have had diagnostics done on the car and no faults appear. my C-max has got the electronic power sterring.
It is a 2004 1.6 TDCI

any help woiuld be great.

Normally stifnes in the steering is as a result of one part or another of the steering system being out of alignement. or bent as a result of some sort of bump or another

As it is OK when stationary then I wonder if there is something loose or worn in the parts that fix the position of the O/S/F suspension

I have had the suspension and all ball joints checked out they seem fine.

I even had the garage take it on a long test drive with me and he couldn;t replicate the fault i took him and it wouldn't happen but an hour after i got the car back the problem started again.

I have even look on the Ford TIS to see if i could find a solution.

I am only concerned about this because my wife uses the car more then me and she has my little girl with her i don't to have this problem while driving

I am having the same problem. It seems to be worsefirst thing in the morning when the car is cold. Took it to the garage and they could not find anything wrong. All they did was lubricate some steering parts and see how I get on. It happens when other passengers are in the car as well. Totally lost to whats causing this annoying driving experiance.

Ifinally got the ford garage to replicate the fault. They got back to me telling me that the power steering pump is gone and they have quoted me £700 to replace. I have the electronic steering system.
