Hi all. we have had this problem for a while now. our 1.8 c-max when you start it it doesnt always start first time.At first i thought it was the battery but its not.If it does start then theres times that instead on start up it idling on 1000rpm it does around 800 and sounds like its struggling and you have to rev it to clear it. once running the car is fine. anyone any ideas?

You don`t say if it`s petrol or diesel.
If its petrol check all the leads are on nice & tight, also take out the spark plugs & check for carbon build up (black soot) & the gap between the plug fork & the spark tip (directly undeneath).Otherwise one of the HT leads (spark plug ) could have a break in it or the fuel filter/pump might have a slight blockage.
Best of luck

As it's petrol
I'd start with the idle air bypass valve or the idle switch on the end of the throttle plate or any of the numerous temperature sensors on the inlet tract and then finally check that there are no air leaks or lose joints between the AFM and the inlet manifold
