HI i really hope someone can help me. Today when getting my car out the garage I turned my air con on and my whole car started to shake really bad. I can only describe it like whenyour using a drill and you drill into brick. I hope someone has an idea what it could be because it scared the
out of me.

THANKS to everyone in advance Michael

How bizarre!

I can comment on how my other "car" decided it did not like the air con as well.

THe compressor internal clutch had given way and along with the flywheel made scrape everytime you switched it on. A horrid metal on metal and some serious "shaking" in the engine bay.

So I can think on checking the compressor and see what happens when you switch it on.

I just had that changed ,well as the pump and air con rad.I went to ford today and as I had it changed under a used car warrenty ,and my warrenty has now ran outford will nowbe charging me to look at the car and if the part is faultyI have to pay to have it changed as parts replaced under warrenty are not guaranteed. I am not happy at all

Yep still here mate, just really been one of those few weeks that eveything needs doing!
Still got a few things left and finally got the cmax booked in for the DPF additive, but that's another story.

Now as for "if the part is faultyI have to pay to have it changed as parts replaced under warrenty are not guaranteed" quote, what a load of bull.
How much time has lapsed between the repair and the warrenty finishing?

They say it is not under warrenty as I only have ,sorry hada used car warrenty not a warrenty that you get with a new car. I purchesed this when i got the car for a cost of £400. I had the parts changed over a period of time but all theparts have not being on the car for longer than 4 months. Icant win with this car it is just a real nightmare. Iam scared to use it asit is just breaking all the time.IAM GUTTED

I've come into this late
when you say turned the air con on was that the air con itself or the fan. If it were the first did it still happen with the just the fan and was it on all speeds of the fan?

HI richard how are you ? the fan was on and air was blowing out. I then pressed theair con button and the car just started shacking and making a really loud noise. I turned air con off and it stopped. I have drove my car today with air con on and now it seems fine but yesterday i got the
scared out of me asthe car felt like it was going to go BANG.

Fine thanks
I was going to offer the suggestion of the air con compressor bearings have gone or their is something that has caused a rotating part to go out of balance (like a tyre does) but if it appears now to be OK then I can't think it is a bearing, perhaps the compressor clutch didn't mate up as squarely as it should

I have no cluewhat it could beit did it when they first changed my air con pump but did not do it again until the other day it is very worrying as I have not had a car do that before.

Richard a quote from yourself earlier in this disscussion.

I can't think it is a bearing, perhaps the compressor clutch didn't mate up as squarely as it should.

The mechanic at ford has told me it is the clutch mechanism for the air con that is the problem. So in my opinion thats another one to you.
