Remote Key Fob

Went out to car this morning, pressed unlock & nothing.Tried again, nothing. So slow walk to spares shop round corner, new battery fitted, back home & nothing,Hmmm.Opened car with spare key so I could get manual out and everything works as book says.In the end I rang Heartlands Ford Tamworth (Not gonna use Chambers Ford in Sutton as they damaged car & denied everything),They said the fob had probably lost it`s `memory`.They could have it in 2morow,but would need it all day to trace fault.I asked the cost & was told if it just needed reprogamming, they would do it for £15.inc new battery.I could not get it there 2morow & they said bring it in now and leave it with us for rest of day.Not able to do so.As I`m off on hols on Thurs I told them I`d book it in when I get back.I wonder though,£15,would this include tracing any fault? I don`t think so!Also,I have seen on our site that some of us are going to Kwik Fit to have their air con units checked & recharged for £45,Heartlands will do it for £25!
Another thing,I have put the battery on charge as the car was slow to turn over, the start reading on the charger was 5 (low) so I have just checked it and after 6 hrs it`s still only on 4.Gonna leave it on over nite.As I had an alternator go last year,I don`t think the battery has ever got backup to a full charge cos I only do short runs.Anyway I`ll keep you all posted.

Doesn't the owners manual actually include for how to programme the remote key to unlock or is my memory playing tricks on me again?

Did the remote key actually start the engine which is the main memory part?
There must be something in the air, my key fob has suddenly stopped working too, changed the battery,
nothing,

was going to ask for guidance from all you guys then saw your post MM8, a family member also has this problem, they went to their local rip offdealer, sorry meant ford dealer, they said it was no good without even looking at it, quoted them £130 +VAT for a new key so they've put up with it,
please let us know how you get on, I wait with baited breathe!!

Hi Richard, yes the manual does tell you how to program a key. It`s on page 117.Too dark to do it now ,so I`ll try in morning.I`m stillleaving the car on charge over night though.
Forgot to say, remote key failed to start car.I`ll try reprogramming the key about 8am,and let you know how I got on asap after.
I think as it didn't start engine that it possibly has failed and new key needed
I have previously spoken to thes people up at the Beggard Bush http://www.duplicut.co.uk/ who I believe said £95 for a new key and all programming but I never did anything more about it so I don't know anything about their service or quality
that of course is Beggars Bush - my fingers can't spell again

the manual tells you only how to program the remote, to open the doors.
there is another electronic chip for startting the engine (for imobiliser), that cannot be programmed that easy(you have to go to a Ford service for this). if the keycould not start the engine, then programming it, as the manual tell you, will not help.
I bought a second flip key of ebay.
I have it programmed to use the remote but as yet the key is still a blank and not programmed to start her up. I know it is big bucks to get this done but going to have a word with a garage on Thursday and see what they know.
Hi all, First post.

I just got a flip key from ebay, I will get it cut later this week, I also have AutoEnginuity with the enhanced ford option which programs keys into the immobiliser.

Cant wait to try it out, My mate is after a spare remote key as well and will be employing my services to program it to the system.Edited by: velcrohead
Hi,

Getting used to showing myself up with silly questions so here goes:
1. Where do you look on Ebay for a flip key?
2. Is there a model/type for the tool that programs keys into the immobiliser?
3. Anybody know which is the filler plug on the gearbox of a C-max 2Ltr diesel 2004?

Regards,
Don.

1. Try putting in Ford flip key in the search.
2. While there are a couple of places that can program the key, it is mainly Ford dealers that do it. Not cheap

3. Will have to have a look at the TIS DVD (Also available on ebay
)
