Hi Guys,

First post!

I'm looking at getting a C-Max and have been slightly disturbed about the issues they have had which are plastered all over the net. Obviously more people complain about a car than they do to praise it but is there any substance in the reviews?

The last thing I'd want is to get it home and start having problems.

Incidentally I've test driven the vehicle and it appears ok. nice to drive but problems rarely occur on the forcourt.

I look forward to your response.

As an owner of a 1.6TDCi 54 plate
It does seem that most of the diesel problems that have been mentioned are with the 2.0L

Very few if anyone ever get the MPG figures quoted for this. I regularly get 45 MPG + usually nearer 50 just about however we drive (even at motorway PLUS!!!

The 1.6 seems quite adequate for accelaeration and power (as many horses as the 1.8 petrol focu - 108)

Given that McGordon hasn't over ridden the Car VED changes for next April the 1.6's tax comes down by £30 to only £90 because of only putting out 129 g CO2 per Km and possibly will keep a better %age resale value (those with large CO2 figures have already seen a sharp drop in secondhand value

My 53 plate 2.0 TDCI is brilliant.I have had it 12 months and had no engine probs at all.I did replace the alternatorbut that was because the previos owner had a bluetooth system wired up incorrectly. As to economy,I get 40+ round town & 50+ on a run.

I own a 54 plate 2.0 TDCI Ghia and love it to bits.
Very easy to drive with a six speed box and 50+ mpg on motorways as well.

I had one possible egr problem while driving around at slow speed but that was within a couple of weeks of owning the car so I think it had been sitting for a while before I got it. Since then, with plenty of miles and of course treating her to Millers diesel treatment, all has been fine.

hi lawe
have just readyour reply and you say you use Millers diesel treatmentcan you please tell me if you use this all the time and does it do what it says on the bottle.
I think it does.

It seems more responsive and the tank last a couple more miles than normal.
I have also (touching wood!) not had any "egr" problems either so I do feel it keeps things clean and lubricated.
It is quite expensive per bottle (About £12 at Halfords)but I now use it every 3rd fill up now rather than every fill up at double dosage when I first bought the car to clear her out.

Thanks for the replys guys!

I went out and got myself one yesterday. 42000 on the clock and an 05 plate for 6000 from Hilton Garage in Derbyshire. As with a lot of these its ex mobility.

Excellent service and they are doing all the thinks i pointed out including a new drivers side seat upholster!
