HI I REALLIY HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME AS I HAVE HAD MY C MAX A YEAR NOW AND HAVE HAD NO END OF TROUBLE WITH IT

THEN TODAY I WENT TO HALFORDS TO BUY SOME NEW SPARK PLUGS AS MY PLUGS HAVE NOT BEING CHANGED SINCE NEW AND MY CAR IS FOUR YEARS OLD NOW AND I KNOW I HAVE ONLY DONE 33000 MILES BUT I WANTED TO CHANGE THEM FOR PEICE OF MIND AFTER BEING GIVEN THE WRONG PLUGS

I WENT BACK TO HALFORDS AND WAS ASKED TO TAKE ONE OF MY PLUGS OUT TO SHOW THEM SO THEY COULD MATCH MY PLUGS TO THE ONES I NEEDED NGK PLUGS WHICH HALFORDS TOLD ME WERE £29 FOR ONE O.M.G

ENYWAYWHEN I SHOWED THE GUY AT HALFORDS MY PLUG HE TOLD ME THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE OIL ON THEM WHICH MINE HAD TO CUT VERY LONG STORY SHORT HE TOLD ME MY CAR WAS RUNNING RICH COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THAT MEANS AND IF THERE IS A SOLUTION FOR THAT AS I HAVE ONE MONTH LEFT OF MY WARRENTY AND HOPE IT WILL BE ABLE TO BE SORTED OUT UNDER THAT THANKS IN ADVANCE AND I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME

oh my plugs were oily around the threads but had lots of carbon on them

Had a trawl around the net, as this happened to me some cars back but it would seem the rocker gasket could be the cause. Several sites have mentioned this as well but this link I think explains it most:

dont listen to halfords . Oil around plugs is from a leak even a small one and carbon on the tips i should think so after 33k of motoring. I remember a ford cortina long ago i used to keep a spare set of plugs in the glove box just incase and had to change them every 5k mind you they were cheaper

thanks for the help guys iguess i am going to have to go back to the dealer again i just hope they listen to me i tell you i am having some real problems with this car i now have no air con either i had a new pump fitted two months ago and i went to turn it on yesterday and surprise nothing happens what so ever this car is driving me mad heres my problems at the momment if enyone has had these problems could you please tell me the solution to them

no1)oily spark plugs

no2)no air con - it was filled just before thepump was changed and when i turn it on i used to hear the pump come on i no longer can and i dont use it enough for it to have ran out yet

no3)car at time will not start

no4)key fob was changed not that long ago and will now only work when it wants to have changed battery still the same

no5)just had its mot and anti roll ball joints had gone - but had them changed under warrenty

Air con: I know this may seem simple, but have you checked the fuse? Only one other thing I can think of is a small leak that has stopped the air con working (safety feature).

Starting: can you expand this further?

yeh i checked fuses as there are i think three in total they all are ok but 2 days before it stopped working there was like a steam coming out of the front grill could that have enything to do with it i dont really put air con on i put it on every so oftern to keep it running ok so i would not notice straight away that it was not working the button works and the little orange light comes on but nothing happens

oh and your advise about spark plugs lawe you were spot on mate

phoned ford up told them oil was on my spark plugs without me saying another word he replied the gasket has gone booked in for the 26th to be fixed along with air con

as for starting the car wont turn over i hope that is the correct thing to say it wants to start but will not but this does not happen all of the time sometimes it will start and i will put my foot on accelarater sorry "for spelling"

to rev it a bit and nothing happens car will not rev it is like the accelarater pedal dont work

Starting issue should be resolved with the gasket replacement and of course a full set of sparks

As for the air con, the "steam" bit seems worrying. That could be a total loss of the gas from a leak or broken pipe and hence no air con.

air con is now fixed they told me it needed new condenser and radiater and one other part as gas had leaked out and my cover to my front headlighton drivers side is nowmelted and white and as for oily spark plugs they told me it was fine no oil leaks enywhere so they did not do enything as for starting issues told me it was my fault as when it will not start i put my foot on accelarater meaning i am in theory fludding engine which is total b

t the car just wont start
