I have a problem with a 05 plate C-Max 1.8, the engine management light is illuminted, fault code stored is "U1039 - Invalid or missing data for primary id / vehicle speed"

Anyone heard of this fault code before? If the code is cleared it comes back up straight away.

you should check the ABS sensors, they are used (among other things) to calculate the speed you are traveling. if one of the sensors get dirty or broken, the speed indication is incorrect.
