Hi gang.
i'm glad to be aboard with fellow owners of the C Max.

I'll be getting mine on Monday or Tuesday this week. I've always fancied one but have been waiting until the right one (for me) comes along.

Without going on its a 54reg silver 2.0tdci zetec with 37000 miles and all the lovely paperwork.

What i would like to tell you and ask at the same time is that i'll be leaving my Mondeo tdci which hasn't given me any trouble whatsoever in the two year i had it.

I've done the searches and read owners reviews on the C max and my overall thoughts is that they seem to be a bag of trouble with this and that going wrong.

So why did i buy one? Besides a few positives and i'm a Ford man throughout, i was smitten with the driving position.

Putting my mind at ease will duly be appreciated.

Thanks, Ken

Hi ken welcome to the club
. I cant tell you about problems you may have with tdci engine as I have a petrol.I can however tell you my car has had endless air con problems. I have had to havea new pump , a new condensor , a new rad and new pipes all in thelast 4 months and it is now brocken again as the air con clutch has failed. I have also had problems with the petrol light staying on when I have half a tank of petrol in your case diesal. I also have had problemswere the car just wont accelarate.I would strongly advise you from my experience with my c maxif you get it from a dealer get a used car warrenty.

I was told by a ford mechanic the early c max modelsdid have various issues's and mine is a o4 and has being true to its word a real nightmare. I must repeat to you if you get it from a dealer try and get some sort of warrenty. I have had around £2000 pounds worth of repairs done on my car under warrenty if I had not had warrenty I would have being in big trouble.

I too have had a Mondeo bfore & this is far easier to drive, lighter steering ,well everything.Get one You won`t regret it

Thanks for the replies lads.

And aplus report from you too metal mickey.

Well i picked mi Cmax up tonight and i'm well pleased with my purchase although i am waiting with baited breath to see what goes wrong first.

It's just one of those things that the more miles you do in it the more you'll feel secure.

I did notice with all the paperwork that there was a reciept for this and that.

So the previous owners put things right and then part-exd it in.

All should be well.

Cheers, Ken

Hi Ken & welcome

I've had my 54 plate 1.6LX since June 08 and so far, so good. It's a great car andhandles well
. Only slight criticism are the creaks from the rear interior trims when manoeuvring at slow speeds (depends on weather & load), but I can live with them.

I'm sure you will enjoy yours

Thanks for the welcomes.

Quote' how are you liking it'

Well,

I can't believe i've got one and i know its the newness and all that, its sure to wear off slightly.

I've not used it yet. Why. Well there's still half a tank of motion lotion in mi Mondeo so i'm using mi Mondy at the mo. The Mony's doing the rounds on ebay at the minute. usual thing, plenty of watchers but the bids aren't going up.

The C max is in the garage at the mo, no not repair garage. My own garage just waiting to come out of hiburnation waiting to play.

I will tell ya this though. It's very reluctact to start first time.

What i'm putting this down to is that the car needs a good run because at the time of test driving it the trip was telling me that there was just twelve miles left in the tank.

So i pressume that wasn't good. Air and sediment?

I know some people don't like to put fuel in a vehicle when their selling it but thats a bit extreme.

I bet even though the comuter said 12 mikes left, there was at least 1/2 gallon in there.Don`t forget to reset trip, distance & average speed when you do fill up,that way you will get a proper reading.Did a very quick chesk on my mpg last nite and even though it only does short distances,I was getting 44
.I have had 50+ on a long run.Next Friday I`m taking it to Sheffield,a round trip of about 140 so I should get a good average from that

Thanks again.

Well its the C max's first day out today and at first all was not well.

It was running loike a right 'bag o sh*te'

No power, wouldn't go above a thousand revs, the car just trickled down the road.

Eventually it started to clear its throat. Loadsa smoke came out of the the rear and eventually it was running fine.

My prediction was right i think. The car was so low on fuel when i picked it up that i think it was sucking air and residue.

I have also fitted my TDI tuning box, not that it wasn't fast enough before but the main difference that i can tell is that it feels as though the engine is free-er.

Cheers, ken

Hi Zorst the tis disc says if there is below 4 litres in the tank the car will run rough hopefully it has cleared by now. Mine really enjoys a good run and seems loads better for it. Last weekend did 350 miles on saturday at 70-80 on the A1 and got 50 mpg so i am well pleased.

Hi Zorst we have a 2.0l tdci and have no problems yet. but ford have sold lots of c-max's so there will be good one's and some bad one's, but you can say that about any car that is made today it doesnt matter how much they cost they can all still break down.
