Last night I test drove (and bought)a 2.0 TDCi Focus C-Max Ghia...

Whilst on the test drive I tried to kick in the cruise control, I got to 40mph and if memory serves me correctly, I just clicked the "on" button on the steering wheel - I then sort of expected the car to stick to 40 mph... .. Nothing happened the car just deccelerated...

Upon return to the garage, the salesman told me it doesn't kick in until you reach a certain speed. I've googled all afternoon, and the best I came up with was a CMAX user guide pdf, unfortunately, written in Spanish,
- but it didhave a diagram on the cruise control pagethat I believe stated the car needed to be going faster than 40 kph which I was doing (40 mph).

Should I have pressed some other buttons to get it working?

I'm worried I've bought a car which hasbroken cruise control...

Any help/advice gratefully accepted...

I've just had a look at a PDF manual which at 17Mb is a bit big to email. However

The "On" and"Off" buttons allow you to set a speed
The "Set" button on the otherside is where the cruise control works at hopefully anything above 25MPH (40KPH)
If in any doubt get the dealer to come with you while you demonstrate

I have the same car as you with a six speed manual and cruise control.

The cruise will switch on at 30mph (have tried lower but no joy) and to switch on, I press the following buttons on the steering wheel: on,set & on and voila a nice steady speed.
The cruise control will switch off when you either touch the brake, dip the clutch or even press the off button.

Thanks very much for all your replies...

My Spanish isn't great but I figured by the lenght of the instructions it wasn't just a case of hitting the on button...

I've never had cruise control before... Can't wait to use it (don't get the car for another two weeks
)...Think it will be great to have on long monotonous journeys and also keep me within the speed limit...

Thanks again for all your replies...

Think I've just got myself addicted to yet another forum...

I have a PDF copy of the new c-max manual on my website here http://wellard027.brinkster.net/Misc%20downloads/C-MAX%20Owners%20Handbook.zip

Shouldn't be too different from the focus c-max. The file has been zipped as it's a large download so you will need to unzip it.

Cheers!

Exactly the same controls as the 05 model...

Maybe a daft question but where did you obtain the pdf version of the manual? I'd like to read up on my model before I pick it up?

No problem. I found it a while back on another forum. Thought I should host it as it's handy to have, especially for potential buyers.
