Help with Bluetooth dropping and re-instating please

Hi,
I have a 2016 Cmax Energi, with Sync 3. I bought it used about a month ago.
My android has an issue with dropping bluetooth connectivity during a call, and then re-instating all on its own. I had it happen today during a call, where it would drop in and out of bluetooth during a single call: it dropped in and out about 5 or 6 times in a 5-10 minute period during that call.
I know that my wife has experienced this as well with her iPhone, so its not just my phone or the Android system.
Anyone have any insight on what to do? I saw that someone was recommending a full reset of the bluetooth system for Sync 2: would that be my best option for Sync 3 as well?
I have upgraded to the latest version of Sync 3, so I know that its not due to an old version of the software.
