Hi,

does anybody have step by step instructions on how to remove the glove compartment on a 2005 2.0 Zetec TDCi. I was driving it today and a part fell out into the passenger's floor. I have worked out that it is (I think) the dampener for the glove compartment to stop it being pulled down too fast. I have unscrewed the four star bolts that I could see and thought that the compartment would then just drop forward but it didn't so I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

To remove glove box open & remove carpet from back {where fitted},then undo the screws from the hinge. Then disengage the damperrod from the lid & withdaw the box by pushing in at both sides.Refitting is a reverse of removal, making sure it is located properly before putting the screws back in &tightening them back up.

Hi MetaMicky08,

I may be wrong but I think your instructions are for the removal of the lid only. I actually need to remove the full compartment so as to be able to put the damperrod back in the correct place before it is connected to the lid. I used your instructions and can remove the lid no probs but when I try to remove the full compartment it looks like I need to remove more of the dashboard trim either side of it.

I taken some photos which are as below:-

thanks again.
