£242!! I took my car in this morning. One cable had snapped on the passenger side so a complete cable replacement was on the cards. They rang me this morning (Fordthorne) Cardiff, and told me the NEW cables have been modified so the handbrake lever had to also be renewed!!

I can't believe it. I will never buy a Ford again. £145 last week for a new oil sump because of a leak around one of the bolts and now this on a 5 year old car.
Why can't they replace the cable with the same pattern? Because they have been since been modified. The cable that is. My car is a 2004 Zetec 1.6 TDCI.

Has anybody experienced this before?

Not yet but for a similar age vehicle I'll wait and see if that's what happens for mine
