Argh! Towing my caravan along the M4 about 6 weeks ago without warning the battery and one other warning light came on and power assistance was lost. I was in the inside lane and pulled onto the hard shoulder, got to about 30mph, still with a dead engine but the clutch out and in gear I dipped the clutch and the engine resumed idling. Not wanting to sit on the side of the M4 I resumed my journey, it didnt seem to be excesively noisy and pulled fine, about 2 -3 miles after the 'stop' is the long drag Eastbound up to J18, the A46 it flew up at 60 in 5th without incident. We got off at 14 (Hungerford and went Northbound towards Wantage. Got into Shefford and noticed a lightish tapping on tickover. Got home ok, and did another 700 miles before the car was taken in to Hartwell Abingdon. Turns out that a fuel injector had failed and the overdosing of fuel caused the oil to be washed out of No4 cylinder and it has momentarily siezed! Not good for 18 months and 15000 miles - thank goodness for 3-year warranty and company cars! In a Focus 1.6 TDCi hatch as a hire car at the moment.

This is the old 1.8 TDCi Lynx engine first seen in '88 in the Escort, anyone else had this?
