My father has a '06 Focus c-max, and has damaged the drivers door handle. He has purchased a new one but when he tried to remove the inner door trim to access the rear of the handle he became puzzled as to how the trim is fitted.

Does anyone know how to remove the trim or can point to somewhere on the internet that might help.

Thanks

I have a Focus C-Max (1.6 & 2.0 Diesel) manual which I got from
Revue Technique in the Auchan supermarket in Calais (France).

All in french but as I understand it the trick to the interior handle
is slide backwards and pull the front end out whilst holding the
interior handle pulled. Then pull/slide down the upper long piece of
trim. After that the usual plastic buttons all round the door card. I
cannot find any other 'hidden' screws on the diagram.

I've been rereading the (french) manual (trying to guess what they are saying!)

They definitely say push the interior door handle trim backwards whilst
pulling the handle open. Then they seem to say pull down the underside
of the door elbow rest to remove a section.

Then I think they say remove a 'clip' and something else to do with the glass raising mechanism.

Then remove two screws.

Then disconnect the window raising mechanism wires (through a hole?)

Then remove the door card starting with the lower part working from front to back.

You are warned not to forget to replace the clips which the two screws go into and to ensure the locking bits are closed.

Sounds to me as if the door card buttons are not just lever off but
have a more sophisticated mechanism to hold the door cards in place.
Maybe the door card has to be slid in a direction sideways? upwards?
downwards? to unhook from the plastic buttons on the door itself.

Just for everyone's future reference.

If you need to remove the door handle.

On the edge of the door, level with the handle, there is a rubber bung. Remove this and peer inside, you will find a "Torx' screw. If you undo this (it is captive so should fall into door) the handle will come out in its entirety.

It's a simple as that. Well so my dad has just told me on the phone

Thanks for your help.
