Is this right?
When the car has been left for a while (maybe 8hrs or more)it never seems to start first time it'll always start on the second go.

Should i press the excellerator once as if to put fuel in the chambers or set the choke, if you know what i mean.

Or should it just start with auto choke.

How does yours start?

Hi zorst i cant remember what engine you have but.. all modern cars that have an ecu dont need accelerator most now only have an electronic link to the ecu. If its diesel i suspect your filter may be dirty or you may have a small airleak in the pipes or an air buble between the filter and the pump (read my post about servicing and changing filters). If its a petrol engine check plugs and fuel filter. Hope that helped a little anyway

Hi Lazyb, yeah that has helped.

It is a diesel. As you say itscould becrap in the filter.

I did saysomewhere else on the forum that when i bought the car it was so low on fuel that i had a loss of power and once i had put new fuel in it, it started to chuck crap out like 'flight of the phoenix'

Sounds like a dodgy filter to me too.I`ve not had any starting problems ,apart from remote loosing it`s code (see previous posts).How low did you let the tank go?I`ve always filled mine up as soon as the light has come on,usually though when needle reads 1/4.

i never let the tank go below a1/4 but when i was test driving the car the needle was well resting on the red and the onboard computer was saying that there was about 15 or so miles left in the tank if i remember right.

To me that seems very low.

There is of course the very much more expensive possible problem that something is temporarily amiss with part of the heater plugs or their relays

If it were air then I suggest it would be causing problems at more than just starting, likewise probably the filter especially at higher speeds where more fuel was going through the filter. There are apparently a set of CLEAR plastic pipes on the return side of the fuel pump so you can check if there are any large amounts of air

If it were dirt in either the filter or having got through to the injector then again it ought to be causing hesitation during driving

Mine does not like getting low on diesel

But I have since used millers diesel oil and now run her on Shell optimax and the differance is huge improvement. I now fill when it gets to 1/4 tank
