I have a 2018 C max and I'm going to need to replace the battery in the key fob soon as on a few occasions I have had the "key not detected" message until I press a button the the key fob.

I have seen several videos for different Fords with the push to start feature that have identified where the key fob with a low battery can be placed in the car (a special pocket, etc) that will allow the engine to start. So far I have not seen any information for a 2018 C-Max.

This morning I had an online chat with Ford support and they could not tell me either.

Does anyone know?
Thank you.

Robert

It's on the right side of the steering column just below the lever. Check your Owner's manual at about page 129 (that's where it is for my 2015) for a diagram.

Changing the fob battery is very simple, but you may want to note where the key fob is when you get these warnings. In the case of my own observations, if the fob is in a pant's pocket along with excess metal, [coins, other keys, cell phone for example], signal will be interfered with and result in the warning. Thanks for the read
