When I got my used CMax the dealer had it valeted and it looks like they made the dashboard all shiney. It all looks very nice until the sun comes out!


When the sun shines I get glare from the dashboard and all you can see in the windscreen is a reflection of the dashboard & not the road!
Anybody got any little tips for dulling the dash?

I believe you can get sum dashboard cleaning wipes which leave a matt finish.

It's called Simoniz Jumbo Matt Dashboard Wipes, they are £3.15 and you can get them from 'CARPARTS FACTORS.com'.

Also, try a damp sponge with washing up liquid and wipe over the dashboard. That will get rid of the "shine". Dry it off with a old tea towel and then apply the matt wipes.

Result

I would think that having got the worst off, you should wipe what is left with baby wipes. Cheaper than the matt wipes and will clean & protect the dashboard.

I always carry a packet in the car and a small tip, if painting with gloss paint and you get it on your skin, use baby wipes. Works everytime!!

covered the dashtop cubby and the panel just behind clocks on ours with a bit of black faux suede, get very little glare now only from the thin strip in front of air vents other than that no glare at all
