Hi all
Just taken delivery of a 1.6 TDCi C-Max, enjoying the ride but I have a couple of questions, am I missing something as I cannot find any mention of a speed limiter and very little explanation of the on board computer, can anyone shed any light on either subject please

Hi and welcome.

Ok, so that we can give further advice, what grade of car do you have?
LX, Ghia etc and what year is your CMax?
Car is brand new last week and is the Ghia spec
Thanks
Do c-max's have speed limiters??

I didn't know the Ghia model was still available.

I have never heard of any car that has a speed limited that isn't a BMW, Merc or Audi, and even the 155mph limit only seems to be areference point, i've heard of 'limited' cars doing 170mph!!

But if i'm wrong i'll learn something new today!

The speed limiter I would presume to be cruise control.
If you have this then you should some buttons on either side of the steering wheel with, reading from bottom left, "Off" "On" "Set" "+" "-"
As for the on board computer, that is the small display at the bottom of the speedo. A switch on the indicator stalk will scroll through the various readings, Temp, Miles per Gallon Average speed etc.. All of this would be in the handbook you got with the car.
there are some cars that have speed limiters that can be changed by the user. you can set the limit to 50km/h, for example, and the car will not accelerate past taht value. it is usefull when you re driving in town, for example (here 50 km/h is the legal limit).
but C-Max does not have such thing.

Isn't that cruise control?
nope, it is not the cruise-control that Ford has.
when using the Ford cruise control, you set a speed and the computer keeps that speed, without you pressing the gas pedal. but if you accelerate, the computer allows you to reach any speed you want.

the limiter I am talking about is like telling to your car "I don't want to travel faster then XX miles/hour". the car let you drive anyway you want, but will not accelerate beyond that speed.
Ahhh, in that case I do have one... it's called the wife

Dragon (sorry Mother) has the same system on her Merc A Class. She can`t figure out how to use it so it`s never been used! The system as I understand it works in tandem with cruise control so you set it at a cetain speed ie 30 for going through a town.Unlike cruise it stays set at that speed and cannot be changed while on the move.I think
