hi i own 2.0tdci ghia

bad trouble with epb wrinklies!

changed to manuaal but

warning light & handbrake light permanent on

also" total epb failure "message

anyone got an answer or software to download

i live in hope cos its agreat towcar now

I take from what you said that you have change the EPB system to a manual handbrake.
If this is the case then I would say that you'll need to pop the car in to a Ford dealer or independent that has the right software. In theory, this will tell the carthat the EPB is no longer there and that the warning lights you have now will go.

Sorry to say that there is no software anywhere that can be downloaded.
By the way, what reg is the CMax? Was it easy to swap? How much were the parts?

Please let me know how you went about changing your epb to manual as I intend to tow a caravan and have had some problems on hill starts when towing a trailer tent. Would be glad of any tips/advice as I really like the vehicle (2.0l TDI Ghia).

hi guys

zzz! that was quick

the ghia was reg in 05 and appears to have

been owned by a physically challenged person

very low mileage, parts were £250 fitted by ford garage

who loved the challenge but were unable to find solution

apparently ford are developing s/w but not avail yet

only recently done but we are both much relieved !

AS I'm sure there will be many more requests for the info, are the dealers that did it prepared to be a contact point for the method?

Was this done by the Ford place next to Byfleet & New Haw Station?
Remember when I used to live near by that I had a couple of cars repaired there and they seemed very good.

I'll move the thread across to the Focus CMax section as the car in question is an 05 Mk1but i'llkeep a cross post so anyone with a CMax can read it.

hi tmax &all thought you were just online

will speak to dealer latter

scanning all epb &brake discussions i think i cansee two interrelated points

1. flat battery,cannot release manually alternater failed,

car is "parked" brake on, tension sensor plays up, requests more effort, motor responds

until it stalls, current to motor rises rapidly flatens battin turn alternater affected

release only possible by jumping batt.???

2. difficult to release brake uphill (eapecially with caravan in tow)

the "bite "position of the clutch is hogher than sensor/sdwitch limit

will not release until clutch is doressedfurther or f/brake is dabbed

hope my theory is correct ,seeing all pstings i am glad i had conversion

will even be able to change b/pads myself withou recalibration

hope this rambling has been of use to all

hello there,

i work for ford, i we have dealers that have come acrossd this problem, they have not come across a proper way of fixing it without changing the ecu and wiring looms, which is alot of money and not really worth it, although they have converted one and left the electric system still in so the car still thinks its there, even though it dosnt do anything,

have spoken to garage(near railway)

he is very interestd but regrets that as a main dealer

he is unable to enter forum

he is willing to carry out conversion bearing in mind lights etc

he said job is straightforward but all parts are needed
