WHAT DO YOU MISS OR NOT MISS ABOUT THE CAR YOU OWNED BEFORE YOUR C MAX ?
I HAD A W REG SENIC , IT HAD BETTER REAR SEAT ADJUSTMENT SETTINGS IE , SLIDE FARWARD AND BACK , BACK RESTS TILT . DEEPER FLOOR STORAGE HOLES . A SPARE WHEEL SUPPLIED ! . ONE BUTTON ON REMOTE TO UNLOCK AND ATIVATE ALARM . DIMMER SWITCH FOR DASH LIGHTS . OIL LEVEL INDICATOR ON DASH WHEN ENGINE IS STARTED . 12 VOLT SUPPLY IN BACK FOR KIDS GAMES . THE SENIC WAS EASIER TO VAC OUT DUE TO A FLAT FLOOR , BUT HEY THE FORD IS FAR BETTER IN THE STYLE DEPARTMENT AND I STILL THINK ITS A GREAT CAR EVEN THOUGH I COULD GET 10 MILES TO THE GALLON MORE OUT OF THE SENIC .

A lot of the items you mention I think you can have at various levels of trim or options

We had a petrol focus so MPG and space are plus as well as discs all round and ABS as opposed to rear shoes

The only thing i miss about my previous caris its performance, itwas a SEAT Leon Cupra TDI which was remapped to 190 bhp and 300 lbs/ft torque.
Its in-gear acceleration was awesome and it could out run cars like Audi TT 225's.

Apart from the performance the C-Max is better in all areas.

Well I can't really put my finger on one thing that I miss. All had something I enjoyed but the CMax has, so far, been a really good buy. (Though I do miss my BL Mini)

funny you should mention mini , i was at buxton race way yesterday 5 of us were there racing 2 mini stock cars round the track . brilliant stuff , big boys with little toys comes to mind

Hi All,
Things I miss about my last car (Scenic 04 Auto) is the electric windows that stuck down on two seperate occasions, the ignition coils that failed on two seperate occasions, on one of these occasions the dash display told me I had a gearbox problem. There was also the rear shocker faullty at 18,000. On it's first MOT it cost me £46 because the CV joint gaiter had came loose and needed to have a new clip to retain it (14.000 mls) Same main dealer mentioned later.
Had Fords since 1970 with very very few problems, other than a Friday (Fiesta 94?
1.8 diesel). Compared to the Very Smooth Focus the Renault Auto G/B is Jerky & will not change up in time(rubbish springs to mind). Last one cost us £70 to change a headlight bulb at main dealer.
Enough was enough
Love the Focus C Max, may live to regret this reply, hope not.

With relation to a headlight bulb replacement, I have just been quoted £38 to change both headlight bulbs.

It is a DIY job, but not for the faint hearted, I had a go, undid the screw and the two clips under the unit, but the headlight was happy where it was, and wouldn't move.

Hi,
It's obviously a bad design on most modern cars now when it's such a problem to change a bulb. Or perhaps just their way to achieve extra income for the dealers.
Had a look at the C max handbook last night to see how to change the bulb asmy wife hasaFocus H/Back and the bulb went on that on Saturday and it's not easy to change a headlight bulb in that either. Although with patience it can be done.
I thought after reading the book it would be fairly easy in the C max, alas if it won't budge it is a bit of a problem.
Anyone else any ideas how to free it if it wants to sit there?

The focus (well our previous anyway) was a lot easier in that you just unclipped the rear cover then the electrical connection and then the wire spring and out popped the bulb

Are you certain the clips have remained down whilst you try to slide the lamp unit forward just a little. Thin hands or a coat hanger to press first one of the clips whilst trying to move the lamp housing and then a little pressure on the other and it should just "come off in your hand" as the phrase goes

Our previous car was an escort estate.The C-Max is better in every way.As for the headlights,I changed both head,main & sides on mine ( both sides).Took 20 mins total.Piece of cake.

my previous car was a Fiesta 2005, 1.4 TDCI

I miss it's size (it was smaller the the C-Max and I could park it in a lot of small places ) and the fuel consumption: 60-62 MPG outside and 35-40 in town.

The escort was my wifes car.I had a Lexus GS300.I miss the power,comfort and gadgets but not fuel bills,they are bad enough with my RangeRover.Love the C-Max & will get one for myself soon so then we`ll have two in the family

My last car also was a Cmax - best cars ive ever owned but the one before was a Scenic (yuk)
The Scenic although roomier than the cmax but nothing like as nice to drive. Itwas the only car to leave me marooned no less than 3 times and re-aquaint me with bus travel as thedealer wasalways overloaded with cars awaiting parts and repair and rarely had any courtasy cars.
My hair turned grey duriing the the time I owned it - crap car even worse dealers.

i have just chopped in a mk4 mondeo motability car for a c max titanium 1.8 tdci , well happy with it , and just love to see the mpg to be so much higher , the mondeo was only doing 26-27 mpg ( 2.0 petrol ) but the dealer said there was nothing wrong !!!! , now the c max is giving mid 40's with only a couple of hundred miles on it , well happy

Changed my Hyundai Coupe 2.0 SE Auto (2000)and Ford Escort 1.8i Ghia X (98) for my C-Max 2.0 TDCi Zetec.
The Hyundai was such a wreck I was forced to buy the Escort to use whilst it was in the garage as they wouldn't give me a loan car for long enough. Owned it 8 months, in the garage for over half the time. The entire thing was a mess, 10 MOT failures but it went ok by the time I sold it. The Escort was fab, with only 45k on the clock as every lil gizmo. But, as they are, Escorts are just shockingly awful to drive. Very cheap feel about everything.

I miss the feel-good factor the Hyundai gives you from driving it. As much as people say they're not great, it turns WAY more heads than the C-Max as the engines are nice and rumbly even without the V6.

The C-Max was a consolidation of them both, I've never looked back. It's actually faster than the Hyundai (much faster!) as I've demonstrated to a couple of over-eager Hyundai drivers. Love the space, love the comfort, love the power.... LOVE the car. It's got a whopping 150k on the clock and i'm the second owner, got it from a sales business. Generally everything was really good, a couple of £20 interior fixes needed but otherwise was all good.

The Ford MPG ratings for this are clearly a fantasy, never gonna happen. Unless you're doing 50mph in 6th going down hill on the motorway then you're not gonna see 60mpg. Still tho, the cars it replaced got about 25-30mpg average so it's a noticable improvement. My daughter LOVES all the space she gets in the back when I slide the seats back.

I would recommend these things to anyone.

I had a Citroen Xsara estate 2.0 HDI. I bought it from an auction with 100,000 miles on the clock, and full service history.

As soon as I drove it home I realised I'd bought a lemon. Firstly it made a humming noise in certain gears, then the lights didn't work properly.

Cost me £200 to get the electronics fixed for the lights, the humming sound was never traced. Over the next year I reckon it cost me around £1000 in repairs, culminating with two spontaneously broken springs the day before I was due to go on a long trip. I couldn't wait to get rid of it, and traded it in for the C-Max.

In some ways it was better than the C-Max. The boot was bigger, and it had more nice covered cubby holes for storing stuff. The electric window had one-touch closing as well as opening, and it had an electronic indicator on the dash for the oil level, and a service indicator. Economy-wise it returned around the same as my C-Max, but with much less power and performance.

But in most ways it was worse. The C-Max drives better, is more powerful and handles better. It has more leg-room all round, and the dashboard instruments are much better laid out. The heated front windscreen is a massive plus on cold winter mornings.
