i have just bought a 54 plate c-max 1.6 lx, when i unlock the doors the boot stays locked, i have to use the button on the keyfob to open it every time, this is annoying because when my passanger gets out the car to get something from the boot i have to remove the keys from the ignition to open it, surely this cant be right, or is it??.

I have come on to the forum tonight for the first time hoping to find an answer to this very same annoying problem. Last weekend I bought a 54 plate c-max (1.8 Zetec), and have discovered that I can only get into the boot when I press the tailgate release button on the fob. Not at all useful when the keys are in the ignition and the engine is running !! According to the user manual, all doors including the boot should unlock when the unlock button on the fob is pressed.

I was hoping for an easy quick-fix but fear an expensive fault. Any ideas ??

its not a fault... theres ways to control what locks and unlocks.
its basically holding buttons on the fob which determines it.
i know to disable everything but the drivers door. its hold lock and unlock for 5 seconds. and the car flashes and beeps. (same to get them all to unlock)
it might unlock and boot button for the boot release? might be worth trying. theres different conbinations i know that one. as i had to do the drivers door trick with my friends focus as someone tried jumping in her car once when she unlocked it.

My car doesn't have this issue, but my tailgate release button's lil rubber cover has come loose and keeps doing so despite attempts to fix it. When u press the button u get a handful of water if it's been raining, so it might be a design fault where water gets in and buggers it up.

I am more interested in configuration commands to change the ways doors lock and unlock via the remote. Mine just unlocks everything on 1 press, would be useful to have driver's only. I miss my Viper Responder alarm on my last car, I could change whatever I wanted. If anyone knows useful little config routines then please send them or post them. I normally need to know at some point or another.

You can do this by pressing the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously for a few seconds - a flash of the indicators will show it's done. You'll now need to press the unlock button twice in order to open the passenger doors.

I think the following method works:-

Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for a few seconds until thelights flash. Now only the drivers door unlocks, press unlock button twice to unlock all doors.

Repeat the procedure to revert to original settings.

Has anyone had to have the tailgate interior trim panel off and as a result does anyone know what the remote cable that connects to the lock housing actually does

my tailgate lock doesn't unlock with the key but everything else works. It did work previously and the lock still turns. I wonder if the cable has come unclipped from the housing

Apologies for the bump, but I have just found this thread and I have the same issue.

So, is it a fault with the fob or is there a way of 'resetting it' so that the boot unlocks along with all doors? I have tried the method described in this thread but to no avail. I am petrified of locking my one year old son in the car. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

Found this thread but still no answer to the original question.

Does anyone know how to program the key to unlock boot as well when you unlock doors? I have this problem currently, just like original poster, when I unlock the doors, boot remains locked and I have to press boot unlock button on the keyfob to unlock it, very annoying. Anyone has the solution?

I tried our remote keyfob last night and found when you press the doors open button the boot unlocks whether you unlock just the drivers door or all 4 PAX doors

Hi Richard, so if boot stays locked, it is a problem? Mine stays locked and i have to press boot unlock key on keyfob to unlock it...
by that it would appear so unless

  • it something changed over the model production years or
  • its something that can be programmed in the GEM or similar by dealer / Fraud

Hi everyone,

I have recently come across this problem too. I know when i pressed the open button on the remote all the doors including the boot unlocked but now when i press the unlock button the boot remains locked. I have pressed and held the lock and unlock button until the lights flash and then when the unlock button is pressed once only the drivers door is unlocked when the unlock button is pressed again the rest of the doors unlock BUT not the boot door. I know it worked before but now it is doing my head in and annoying just like comments made already when you have the key in the ignition and you want to go to the book but cant because it is LOCK...........

any ideas anyone......
