bonnet lock not working!! can't open it!
Hi all,
Got an 04 plate c-max on which the bonnet lock has broken, i've found another post about this but there was no mention of how you get the bonnet open to fit the new lock.
As i understand this is a common fault so someone must have figured out how to get the bonnet up without using the lock.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

One quick solution though comes to mind, AA/RAC/Green Flag etc.. might be able to help.

I had the same problem and it turned out the release mechanisium in the boot had broken. The garage had to get the bonnet open as the AA were unable to and then fitted a new lock.
It took the garage 30 mins to open it but not sure how they did it.

Bit brutal this but it came from Ford
Take a saw and cut the front grill out
You will then access the release mechanism. At the engine end of the mechanism you will see a white plastic moulding. You have to break this away to give access to the lock mechanism which you can then turn with a screwdriver.
New Grill about £65
Locking kit about £25
Just to add fun to the proceedings the lock kit is not assembled at the key end. You get a bah full of lock tumblers and other goodies. You have to make the lock up yourself to match your key. It doesnt come with instructions either. Ford want £25 for building the lock. I managed to remove the old one and reuse that.
Interesting life isnt it
