Ok...

This time a warning pops up saying "limited EPB functionality", the Battery light comes on......this is accompanied by a whirring noise from the engine bay (not too disimilar to a loose belt or maybe an alternator issue).....

Anyway Ford are down the road,i spotted that the 'warnings' were coming & going whilst driving down......Get to Ford, tell them the crack and what do they do....Set about dismantling the rear brakes...????

They then tell me there is nothing wrong with the car, as the warnings are not on anymore. I asked i'm if he had hooked up the car to diagnostics and he said no....

Senseless time wastingtw~ts.....I warned them that "I'll beback" (to quote a Swartzeneggerism), and yep, 4 hours later the car is back with them....

Anyone had this fault????? or any ideas?????

Its a 55 TDCI Ghia with 40K....Had from new...faults have included eating front tyres, anoying 'drone' at 85 on the motorway (unresolved), creaking clutch pedal, door/window exterior plastic trim dropping off.....so yes the car has had its faults etc, but on a whole i have enjoyed the car for three years and am not looking to replace...

probably the alternator

the droning noise had been suggested to be wind getting under the front edge of the rear spoiler. I thinkIi suggested the use of plastecine or similar to check if making sure the front edge was sealed cured it temporaily then a permenant fix could be found

Ok...I'll rephrase that....horrible drone at around 2500-2750rpm....

Similar to 'moosing' that Mondeos were prone to...

The car is now fixed....alternator!!! These does seem to be a common fault (3yrs/40K odd)
