hi all need some help the car 2.0 tdci 54 plate 30k. air con needs a regas or recharge as its not very cold. have been quoted around £65
. not sure of the process but they need the car for at least an hour
. is it a easy job that only a garage can do or is there a diy way? this is my first car that has needed a regas or recharge depends on who i talk to. any help you can give would be great

This is most likely true ,have had it done myself on a car that had only done 17,000 miles,must have been on all the time! There are cheaper places it would pay to get some quotes.My neighbour had a mobile van do his .only around £40.

thanks. kwik fit will do air con for £45 but will knock £20 off if i buy a tyrethis just shows how much money they make out of us. but i had a chat with a garage i had two tyres fitted to my citroen zx to see if they could do it and yes they do and will only cost me a£10 so i will be going there.tyres were a good price aswell.

You could buy a re charge kit from Halfrauds, which costs £40, but I would only use that if you know the air con is a bit low.
Kwik-Fit "seems"the best option as they will vacum the system empty and then re charge to the correct setting according Fords details.
