Acceleration restriction

Hi every one
Just found the site had a quick look over and as a c max owner thought it was well worth joining.
I have a 53 plate 1.6 TDCI diesel and every now and again at no particully time the car will only let you accelerate to 3000 rpm and even if you put your foot flat down it will not speed up, no smoke just the engine sounds different.
No faults are coming up on the dash or warning lights. If you drive on after varing amounts of time each time it happens it returns to normal.
It may happen once a week or once a month and conditions can be hot or cold wet or dry never the same.
Has anyone experienced this or can anyone help

Many thanks

Have you tried seeing if there are any loose connections to the AFM as if this didn't register the increased air then it wouldn't increase the fuel

I'll check the TIS disc to see if it offers any simple checks to do otherwise you may have to see if any fault codes come up that a dealer can identify
Hi
I have previously checked but just as a precaution I will look again thank you.
The following is perhaps a litle exteme for you problem but would probably be the next step. It perhaps may give some other area to check

Engine cuts out under hard acceleration

Thanks for that it gives me more areas to try as they were running dry
Many thanks
Did you manage to sort out the problem. I have just got a 04 one and this has happened twice but only on long trips. It also seems to reset after the engin has been turned off for 10 mins.
This does seem to be a common issue and looking on the net the EGR valve and or air mass sensor seem to get mentioned alot( what ever they are. Or are they the same thing?)
