New member of this forum so thanks to all that run it !


I have an 2 annoying issues with my 08 plate Cmax Zetec 1.6 diesel which I have had for 3 weeks. I am just trying to find out if its faults or just bad design.


Which ever position I have the air direction controls on , as soon as I turn the blower fan on from 0 speed to 1/2/3 or 4 , the Air Con light comes on and indeed the air con is activated. I would have only expected this to occur if the air is directed at the windscreen.


Is this a fault ??


I also cannot get my Drivers door electric window to close with one flick of the window switch - It will go down all the way with one flick , but not up , is this normal as the manual ( which is the most complex and complicated manual I have ever read !) mentions programming the auto close, I tried this with no luck !!

With the aircon this is normal but if you turn the dail away from windscreen only you will find that it doesnt.just turn dail left one click this is just as good.
With the window its actualy ileagal to close with one touch unless fitted with sensors that detect something touching the top of glass.This is because there has been young kids and animalskilled in past leaving head out of window and switch being pressed thus very bad choking or worse

Thanks for reply - but if you read my description of problem again ( I probably did not describe it well ) the air con comes on with the direction dial in ANY position once the fan motor is switched on, even if pointing atthe footwell position- this must be a fault IMHO

As for the driver window close feature, it has an anti trap feature ( as did my previous car ) and is quite normal for most modern cars for the window to shut automatically, and the manual says it does - i am fully aware of the dangers but this is why they have anti trap features where by they monitor the load thru the window regulator motor and shut it down if overloaded .I just need to know if any one has issues with it closing.

HI, I've had my 08 plate c-max for 1 week, it's a Titanium model but should bethe samere the features discussed.

On my car:-


The air con light illuminates only when the air direction control is set to the window postionor if switched on manually.

The drivers electric window will go all the way up or down with one FULL flick of the button.

i think air con is faulty,and have since found out that one click close is only standard on titanium

Hopefully I'm in time to save you a trip to the service.
I've just discovered that yes whilst the A/C does come on automatically with the blower if directed to the screen, if having once done this auto switch it then doescomes on with all positions of the air direction control.

To stop it doing it you have to manually switch the A/C switch off and then it only comes on automatically when directed at the screen

turn the direction control away from the windscreen and manually operate the A/C switch to turn it off. It should then only turn auto turn back on when you have it directed to the W/Screen
