Hi,

With the winter setting in, we would like to downsize from our 18" and was wondering if any members have a set of 16" they have laying around for sale.

Had a look on ebay and shocked to find the prices of 400-500.

Dont mind paying that much if the alloys and tyres are "as new" condition.

Collection preferred but I can arrange courier although that would mean you would have to package them appropriately.

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Kind regards

Gary

It might be a better idea to go for steels & trims. As long as they're the 5 stud 6.5J 16" from the Mondeo, Focus, Smax, Lesser C-Max models or Transit Connect they'll do. A Full set of 4 BRAND NEW steel wheels, trims and Nuts recently sold on ebay for 40. THE LOT. The nuts alone would have been 60 from Ford! I got mine via ebay from Mondeo Spares in Stoke on Trent,http://www.mondeospares.co.uk/ for 23 a wheel and 30 on ebay for a set of genuine Mondeo trims. I got the nuts on ebay for 90p each. Better than the 3 each from the main stealer.
The tyres are Cooper Weathermaster and were 317 for the four, fitted and balanced. They are very quiet on wet & dry roads and my son, who ran a set on his Xsara last winter says they're good on the white stuff too. Alternatively, there are brand new winter wheel & tyre packages available on ebay just now.
See http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-Ford-Fo...item2568bbf3f4
Remember that if you do go for steels, you'll need different nuts.

I had thought about steelies but the ones I was searching for were as expensive as alloys!

Just missed out on a set of 16" and they were really local as well- totally gutted about that

I've had a counter offer from an ebay seller for some 16" for 450 but not sure on the tyres

Whatever you do it'll be expensive in the end, but the package will last many winters. I find steels & trims better for winter use as they a a bit more resilient. Alloys tend to get damaged by grit flying up from the front wheels and peppering the rears. Downside is that steels go a bit rusty but that can be overcome easily with a coat of waxoil. Doesn't show anyway when the trims are on. I actually think the Mondeo trims suit the C-Max quite well.
Have a look at thishttp://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article...ying-Guide.htm It may help you make up your mind.
