Think the cmax seats are heavy, try a set of the 'old' VM Galaxy seats

Big Budgie I believe that in the early days the sliding seats were standard on Ghias and perhaps Zetec models, and it was only with the advent of the facelift MK2 in 2007 that they were relegated to the options list in order to save weight and reduce emissions and therefore tax, to "compete" with other manufacturers. In the '90s and early 2000s equipment levels were the Holy Grail, but that was all overturned when road fund tax became emission based after 2001. Less weight = more MPG = lower emissions = lower road tax = no sliding seats on later models!! = B***OCKS!

Was it ever that there was a model on which they weren't a first owner option?

bottletree Yeah the Picasso ones were very easy to remove and replace, but not exactly light either. Maybe I'm a wimp.

Big Budgie The Non Sliding ones aren't as heavy as the sliding ones you'll have in your Ghia. That being said, they're not as easy as they were in my Picasso, must be because the door opening is more restrictive or something. The folding arrangement and the catches are almost exactly the same.

bottletree Be careful taking them out. I did my back in. They are quite heavy.

Richard G As far as I know the rear seats of all the CMax are removable
the 45 degree thing is I think to do with how the front part of the mounting / hinge is constructed

Removable seats?

Hi all, hope it's OK to just sign up and start asking questions.

I'm looking at buying a 2009 C-MAX Zetec. I had a go folding the seats up and things yesterday, but couldn't work out how to remove the seats. The man at the car supermarket seemed to think they couldn't be removed on the C-MAX, and reading around on the internet I've found a few forum comments saying removable became on option after the 2007 facelift, although I've not been able to confirm this.

How do I tell if the seats are removable? When I folded the middle seat forward it did have the levers with the red tabs, so I'm guessing it is removable (I just didn't know you have to hold the seat at 45 degrees to move them). But the wife is very keen that the middle seat can be removed so we can get the pushchair in neatly, so I'd like to have some confirmation!
