flamair OK good issues raised here.

Front tyres if original are Continentals and they are crap. I got 13K out of mine. Best tyres for mileage are michelin (35K+) but I settle for a mid price tyre for against mileage. Goodyear NCT 5 or Goodyear Excellence are very good (at least 25K fronts) and I currently have Toyo CF1's - rears 12K and very little wear and fronts 14K and about 4mm tread left. TBH if you put a decent make of tyres on you will get good mileage. Contis are terrible though - the standard fitments are the worst tyres I've ever experienced - average grip and appalling longevity.

GrahamB I collected my C Max this morning!

The only downside was that they couldn't find a spare wheel (It has the repair kit).

As I drove it home in the mist I had my lights on. I didn't realise it has a light to tell me my lights are on that really is overkill.

GrahamB Oh well.
Not picking my new car today due to the snow - they can't get it out of their shed!

Now hoping to collect on Monday.

Garyman Good to know that I'm wrong lol

Hopefully will last as long as what other members say.

We're hoping to pick ours up from Wednesday but in the hands of the DVLA due to plate transfer

GrahamB Well we agreed a deal today.

2007 1.6 petrol Zetec but not the onewe was looking at yesterday.

We pick it up on Friday 3rd December.

GrahamB Well, for a 1.6

I would expect the fronts to wear faster as they have more to do. 30k miles seems more like it.

Thanks.

romseyraver Hello Graham,
Glad to see you describe the 1.6 petrol as 'sporty'.
My tires are originals and have done 23,000 with lots of tread left, so I would expect them to last through 30,000 miles without difficulty. But fronts do seem to wear faster than rears.

GrahamB Many thanks for that.

Sounds like this one might have been driven a bit hard. I think I'll take a depth gauge with me tomorrow and have a look at the others. I did look at the disks and they seemed fine which is either an indication they will last forever or contradicts the tyres.

Hi Graham, welcome to the club. When I got our max back in August 07,I was made aware (by a dealership)that the front tyres needed replacing asap.I had it MOT`d & was told the tyres would last till next MOT unless the car was driven very hard (it wasn`t).I had 2 new fronts put on just before it went in & there has been very litlle wear since (2 years now.The cat has covered about 15,000 so far & I don`t see the need to change them for another 15,000 at least. As for the rears, they are the original ones fitted when I bought the car. They have covered 20,000 now since we`ve had the car & I can`t see them being replaced either. As you can see, mine is a 2.0TDCI which is a heavier unit than the 1.6 petrol,so unless there is something not quite right at the front the tyres should last at least 30,000.MM
