Thanks very much. Can you tell me what is involved in fitting and removing them - I'mm 66 and not as agile as I used to be! Which model number fits the C-Max would be a great help.

lazyb They are just the cheap doughnuts that sit between the springs dead easy to put on and take off. Cost about 25 quid but really stops the rear sagging. Just found these at Halfords
Hope that helps

Chris I bought my 1.8tdci to tow our Avondale Mayfair 556/6 - After my Focus estate wouldnt pull it up a hill near Whitby, now that was an experience......

The C-max pulls it great.......

Tony What type of assisters do you use?

lazyb Had mine for 2 years and it tows my elddis typhoon great. One thing i do put spring assisters in whilst towing so the back doesnt droop.

steve~max I'm clad to see the c max is good for towing as that was part of the reason when we bought ours. We tow a large trailer tent so wanted something that had plenty of boot space and ok for towing as well as being a great family car. We are going away with the tent next week so looking forward to see how well it tows it.

Richard G With the weight on the ball a long way behind the suspension they will be somee accelerated wear for the small period you are towing but this is so short compared to the whole year that it probably makes little difference overall

markw Thanks Richard, I'll try this. It is the longer term wear and tear that is the issue rather than the CMax's performance as a tow car.

Richard G I think at one point the CMax got a tow car award from camping and caravan club
put "tow car" "cmax" into google and look at what comes up

markw I'minterestedin feedback from those who have used the CMax as a tow car.
I have a 04 2.0 TDCI which I've used to tow a small touring caravan for the past 5 years for about 1000mls per year. The weight of the caravan is well within the Caravan Club's 85% of kerb weight recommendation and I amfastidiousabout checking the nose weight. On paper the CMax is ideal in having the power and weight to tow whilst being a good day to day car.
However... last year I had to replace the rear shocks and this year the front suspension anchor bushes (including their tie rods). My garage says these were bothunusualevents, possibly related to towing.
So is the CMax with its Focus underpinnings just not man enough for the job, or have I been unlucky?
I'd be pleased to hear theexperiencesof others asI'm thinking about a replacement and the CMax still fits the bill on paper.
