Afternoon Everybody! Newbie to forum here. I've tried the Search button first to see if anything related to my problem popped up but it didn't so here goes!
We have a Focus C-Max 06 reg. petrol 1.6 which has done 59405 - give or take. A couple of months ago, the engine warning light came on for about 10 minutes then went off again. I mentioned it to my other half and he said it might've been because he'd just put more oil in and had maybe put too much. Anyway it went off again and we never thought anymore about it. We were then rear-ended about a month ago and have recently got the car back, looking great but with the engine warning light on permanently. To be on the safe side, we had the oil and filter changed - just in case he had overfilled it - but it didn't make any difference, the light stayed on. We also had been feeling the car lose power intermittently which it had been doing before the prang. Took it into the garage where the diagnostic showed the inlet cam sensor. This was replaced as "9/10 times it's the sensor that's dodgy" and this would also affect the power. The technician also drove the car and felt the power dip. Seemingly everything was fixed and away we went only to find that after 3 journeys, the light came on again. Car was taken back in for another day and given a clean bill of health - 3 journeys later, the light came back on again.
Apart from this intermittent lack of power, it feels okay. Does any of this ring bells with people or can anyone offer a suggestion as to the possible cause because we seem to have stumped the technicians. As we've only done roughly 60k mileage, it's still got a bit to go before the timing belt.....

I did have something similar with a petrol Calier some while ago where they also changed the crank angle sensor but which was finally only cured when they changed the engine wiring harness as there was they believed a partial break somewhere in the wiring.

The other less expensive possibility is that a connector is not properly pushed home but I've no idea where to start
