Okay so it's a little bit of a cheat, I'm not actually an owner yet.

I've been looking around at getting a car on the motability scheme as I have to use a powered folding wheelchair mos of the time and the c-max seems to have the best boot for getting it (plus a suitcase or something) in.

I'm hoping to put my order in tomorrow (23rd Apr) and look forward to getting to know you all over the comming weeks and months.

I have to say though that I'm quite nervous about driving such a big car as my last car was a corsa.

I'm looking at getting the petrol titanium 5 seat version but will update my siggy with the model once this is confirmed.

Would be interested to hear from any c-maxers (is that the correct term?) who have upgraded from smaller vehicles as to how easy you found it to make the change.

Welcome to the forums.

I have found the size of the car does not 'feel' as big as it is. This is a good thing though, and I think the slightly raised ride height helps with this perception. The only think I am careful with is reversing - as I do not have parking sensors - but with care, patience, use of mirrors and a little practice (all the things we are supposed to do anyway) this does not seem to be much of an issue.

I hope you enjoy your experience.

Thanks Mushkin. I believe that there's currently a thing on about giving away free city packs which includes the rear parking sensors but it's probably best not to learn to rely on them too much. Not sure I would trust the 'semi automatic' parking thing that you get in the convenience pack though!

Nervous as **** about the test drive tomorrow, just hope I don't crash into anything expensive on the dealer's forecourt. That would be really embarrasing.

Hi Collected ours yestreday CMax 1.6 Titanium Ecoboost Panther Blackon Motability ordered 24 Jan and collected 22 April, but not our origonal car CMax 2.0 TDCI Titanium Powershift in Misnight Sky as they haven't and don't seem to have built any or many yet.The dealer was very helpful and suggested we changed our order back in March as he couldn't even get a build date for origonal, we did and 3 weeks latter we drove ours away on due change date through Motability. My suggestion would be if you ask what stock thye have first before placing an order as they may have what your looking for.As to size the only thing I can say is thanks for rear parking assist as you have very limited rear view when reversing, apart from that the overal size once youve had a drive or two and covered a few miles its fine, the driving position is superb as you appear to be feet up and over every thing esle on the road.Good luck and welcome to the club.

After driving an 08 Focus for a couple of years, the C-Max initially seemed quite a bit bigger inside but on the road it doesn't seem much different. I checked with the dealer before buying as I wanted to be sure it would fit easily in our garage - apparently it's 2" longer and wider than the old Focus. The view out of the back is not really much worse than that of the Focus IMO. The only difficulty in reversing is to remember that reverse is not opposite 1st - on the 6 spd box that is actually 2nd which is a bit embarassing

Well, the good news is that I survived the test drive without embarrasing myself by crashing into something expensive on the dealer's forecourt. I did stall a couple of times but then I've got to get used to driving a manual again so that will come with practice.

Need to scuttle off and ask motability if I can pretty please have the electric boot option because at 5'0" in my socks I can barely reach the boot when it is fully open, and that's a darned good excuse to get the Titanium as the family pack option isn't available on the zetec. As soon as I hear back about that then I can go a head and order and might even have it in as little as 3/4 weeks as there are some Titaniums with the FP around in group stock.

Fingers crossed!

When you get to order do check regarding the (what was) no cost option of having a spare wheel and jack rather than the tyre repair kit.

Unless they've changed the ordering the tyre kit is the default option and not all dealers mention this

Thanks for the heads up on that one Richard, but there's no way I could change a tyre on my own so if I get a puncture it would be an RAC/AA job anyway therefore it makes little difference. I believe they now charge 75 for the spare too, but I'll check when I order and see if it's worth paying the extra given the above.

The result would in reality be the same whoever actually changes the tyre and where

Ordered mine last week ,was going for the 2ltr but was told there is no build date for them so I went for the 1.6TDI As for the spare wheel I bought one on my last Cmax so I am going to swap it over for the repair kit Dont worry about being too big they are not once you get driving them .Parking sensers come as standard with Mobility
