hi i only just found the site today , im on my second cmax tdci i am really happy with it except today it wont start just clickin , so im waitin on hubby comin home to try fix it. hopefully it will be somethin simple. well heres hopin wish i heard about club beore now.
As for your fault, this happened to us two Sundays ago. You have a dead and failed battery
You could charge it but you are only putting off what will be needed in a couple of days.
Our one managed to last the winter but 5 years use of the battery is very good.
Downside was the cost. The car is needed all the time as my wife is a care worker and of course the only place open on a Sunday is Halfords.
£120 later one beefed up battery fitted, though I did it myself rather than Halfords do it.
Still since fitting a stronger crank battery, the car performs better... weird!
you were spot on steve my neighbour just jump started it . my problem is i dont use the car very often i only have 19000 on clock and 8000 was on it when i bought it 3 yrs ago. so my husband is away takin it for A RUN NOW. HOPE I DONT NEED NEW ONE .
Get the battery tested first and see what they say. As you say small runs is not good for any car, even more so for a diesel.
A quick fix if the battery is ok is this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...FRuZ2Aodl1oOZg
Cost is £10 and this will at least help keep the battery topped up.
I bought this when my wife had a corsa which was not used a lot but helped keep the battery in form.
Good luck either way!
