hi everyone just joined your site so hello to everyone. just bought my first c max a couple of weeks ago its an 2004 reg 1.6 tdci ghia with 50,000miles. lovely car and really pleased with it but went out this morning and some **** has rubbed there bumper down the side of it about a foot and half longwill be checking carsbumpers tonight in my car park for scuffs.just wondering does any one know if it has a timing belt or timing chain on it. also when you first start the car the a/c light is on on the button and you need to switch it off everytime, is this a fault or can you set it or something. thanks in advance for any help, cheers

If you have the air direction vent control pointing to the screen the air conn will come on with the ignition. Just select one of the other positions and it shouldn't

there is a great deal of conversation regarding Belt / Chains but the expected change point is not till 100K miles or 10 years

Hi, as Richard has said, if the direction of air knob is directing to the Screen then A/C comes on automatically, its because it has less moisture and aids to clear the screen quicker.

The 1.6 TDCI has a Cambelt, not too sure on interval, will have a look on E-Tis later.

Has the Plank who scraped your car managed to dent the panels, or is it just marked? Tar and glue remover works a treat in getting the Black bumper scrapes out, along with a little cutting compound ( T-Cut ), then a bit of polish.

thanks for the help. the cars not dented but the paintwork is more scuffed and kind of white deep scuffs rather than a black bumper mark

As said, Tar and glue remover and T-Cut or similar should rid your car of its battle scar!
