Hi everyone,
My gloved Alfa sportswagon got shunted a few weeks ago and the repair bill quickly went way past the Market value. To be honest it was a weight off my mind as it was only a matter of tome before something went disastrously and expensively wrong. So I shopped about a bit and settled on a cmax. Weve just had a second child and I craved a bit of practicality. I found a two litre diesel ghia at the right price and snapped it up.
The next morning it was clear there was something wrong with the steering. A bit of a net search was very discouraging nut the garage took it back and eventually cured the 'morning sickness' after a new steering pump, speed sensor and, ulimately, steering rack. It now drives beautifully and gives about forty five to fifty to the gallon - twenty or so better than the Alfa. It's even quicker than the Alfa ( you don't know how much it hurts me to write that). I'm converted.

Gloved above should read beloved but my phone won't let me edit it.

So thats me. Now does anyone have any roof bars to sell before I go on holiday?

Andy

I paid 3800 for a 2004 2.0 TDCi Ghia (with factory fit DVD player - a pretty good extra). It's done 80k.

There was one virtually the same in a big dealership nearby for 5k and they wanted road tax on top.

Hi & welcome to the club Andy, sounds like you got a good deal.Does it have service history with it & do you know if it has had a new alternator ?Reason I ask about the alt is they are prone to fail at some time during the cars life & as you have the Ghia version + dvd player,it would mean the alt has had to work a little harder than on a Zetec.

I did wonder about the alt because there is a slightly tangy hot electric smell from the engine but I've had it looked at and it's fine. I'd have to check the history to see how old it is. The boot release has gone but that's no problem to do myself.
