Never planned to buy a C-max I visited the dealer looking for a Focus and actually put a deposit on the Focus. But the C-max, black with smart alloys, kept coming back to mind so went back the next day and did the deal.

Have owned a C4 in the past with the same engine (90 BHP version) and was not dissappointed with the fuel econ but with the C-max being a bigger motor and being driven differently I don't expect anywhere near the 65MPG I got on the C4 - Calculated btw never trust the readout.

I'm after sorting out some teething problems on the C-max and look forward to sharing ideas with the aficionadosof the group.

Hi & welcome to the club.
What are your teething probs?
Surely (don`t call me surely) it should have been trouble free when purchased?

Hi, Welcome to the Club!
As MetalMickey has said, it should be faultless upon taking delivery, if not make them aware of the issues and ask them to resolve FOC!.

Thanks for the welcome guys, the problems are small really known as part of the deal.
Lets see...

1. I have only 1 key and have baulked at the dealer prices.
2. A plastic moulding that covers the seat belt exit for the rear LHS passenger is not staying put, its been removed in the past and stripped the locking system.
3. The steering wheel has a crack in the cover where a previous owner has pressed excessively on the horn.
4. The A/C keeps coming on at ignition or soon after. Why?

Thats all for now guys, thanks again.

for the a/c one is the fan direction fully towards the windscreen, if so just move it to a different position and this should sort it

Thanks Davo, I'm intrigued by the answer and will try it next time I'm in the car.
BTW do you have a theory as to why this works?

It is to dehumidify and demist the windscreen quickly.

Thanks OGD. So ifI've got this right then... to demist quicker the A/C can/does cut in automatically?

Neat!

the air conn only comes on automatically if the air is directed at the screen and the fan is not set to off. It's a design feature / flaw

Scanning through the manual the other day found out that it suggests that the Air Con system is used for 1/2 hour per month.

I guess this is to keep the refrigerant distributed around the system, so I'm wondering if this behaviour mentioned aboveis linked to this requirement.
