Greetings all

Hi, I am very new to this so please be kind to me. I do however require some expert advice. My 2004 1.8 zetec has recently started beeping at me. It's a continuous beep which lasts for about 5 seconds and repeats every 3 minutes or so. As I'm sure you will all appreciate, it's driving me crazy and no matter what I do, I can't shut it up.
Is there anyone who can help me???????

  • What actions have you done just prior to beeping starting.
  • I presume that it beeps all the time whilst driving
  • I'm presuming it comes on when you turn the ignition rather than being on all the time.
  • Is it with key in Pos I or Pos II
  • Do you have parking sensors fitted front / rear / both

The beep only starts when the key is in position 2 or the engine is running and I don't have any parking sensors. It still beeps even if I'm stationary or moving.

what has just struck me is that it may be the sensor that detects the driver seat belt is plugged in has gone faulty

Is there an easy way of testing that?

If its the seatbelt minder then if you just sit in the car and don't go anywhere then it won't sound. Until you drive over a certain speed!

I've just been out for a drive and its not the seat belt sensor. The seat belt beep is a different pitch and tone to my prolonged beep. My annoying beep is the same pitch and tone as the beep you get if you open a door whilst the engine is running except my beep lasts 5 seconds and repeats every 3 minutes (I've just timed it).
I'm also getting a loss of power when I put my foot down once the engine is up to temperature. This only seems to affect the low end of the rev range. Once it gets to 3250 rpm it seem to be ok.
Any ideas?
