Got my C-Max at last!

Hello all, well I have finally bought a C-Max after a couple of years or so deliberating what to replace my trusty mk5 1.8D Escort van with, (still running sweet as a nut with over 270,000 miles on the clock but the body is getting rough and the wife finds it too low to sit in now with a bad back)!

Always liked the look of the cmax over all others and after having known people who have owned them decided I wanted one. Ali, my wife, wasn't keen as she doesn't like the "blue oval" full stop . However after promising her that she can have her Vito van (which I think look like a bloody hearse) all is well.

Mine's a 53 plate 1.8 petrol Zetec, Panther Black, Leather interior and more than enough gadgets for my liking. I chose the petrol over diesel as I feel the modern diesels have lost the simplicity and reliability of early ones and have just as much electronic crap strangling them as petrols, if not more. The main reason for me buying diesel up to now was the ease of repair and reliability!! Fuel economy is something I'm willing to trade off due to the lower cost of petrol, The car was showing 33mpg average when I got it, which has now risen to 35 and I've only done one journey in it (I don't drive with slippers on either!!).

Jobs I have to do are both lower suspension balljoints, and possibly the o/s outer CV joint as the gaiter has split but I bought it knowing these faults existed.

Anyway, I love it, it looks great, the wife is comfortable in it and it's got plenty of storage space for 7 yr old daughter's crap

Hoping to make good use of these forums,

Welcome to the forum Mark. Try the search facility for any old posts relating to those fixes you need to do. As far as your wife's bad back, I too suffer with this and the C max is nothing short of brilliant for making the ride comfortable and easy to get in and out of.

youll find plenty of niggles with the max but nothing this size drives so well or has so much practicality and with mine being diesel its just 100 to tax a big saving over my ka which was 190! and im only 27 and no i dont have kids neither!!

Thanks for the welcomes, the seating is very comfortable with plenty of support where it needs to be.

As for the tax, the whole tax system is crazy, my old Fiesta and Escort cost over 200, yet I can tax my lorry for 165 but that's opening a whole new 'can of worms'!

If I have any questions or difficulties with the car I'll certainly be asking the advice of the community on here.
