Welcome to the site. If your car was parked outside your house and you were inside with the remote in your pocket, you could easily press the unlock button and unlock the car. If the pressure on the unlock button was maintained for a few moments that will cause all the windows to open as well. After a few seconds the car will lock itself again leaving the windows open. The other possibility is that there is a fault in which case a trip to the dealer is called for. HTH.

I didn't think auto locks worked like that but not sure with the latest vehicles

Was it not the case that previously if you pressed lock and a window was down that it put the window up first?

When I saw your post I popped out to check and my C Max does lock itself again if the remote isn't inside the car within, I estimate, thirty seconds. This may well be different from the old model and, in any case, doesn't help if your windows are all open.

If the car is unlocked with the windows open pressing lock doesn't seem to have any effect on the windows, the car simply locks. I don't know how it worked on the old C Max.

I have 2012 Auto the same as yours, if you press the key fob open button and hold it down (easy to do if you have full pocket's !!) then the windows will go down and car re-locks. But it switches the perimeter alarm on inside the cabin so if someone puts there hand in the alarm goes off.....................at this point you rush outside to find that what ever they want they have nicked, except the car is it is immobilised.........but at least you don't have to pay for a new window glass.
So beware where you put your key fob !!

Thank you soulboy how do you find the auto box ours doesn't seem to know what gear it wants to be in at low speeds. May be it needs a few more miles to it settles down, or it could be that I've never driven a twin clutch before always driven fully auto boxes before

If you don't open a door or the boot within 45 seconds of unlocking then the car auto re-locks itself to the same state it was in (single or double locked).

If you hold down the unlock button then, like already said, the windows lower. Holding down the lock button will raise any open windows. To close the windows and double lock you hold down the second press of the lock button.

What I still haven't tried is if you unlock and lower the windows but don't open the car do the windows close when the car relocks although from reading the replies here it seems they don't.
