I'm pretty happy with my 2005 max. Only thing I think I need to remedy is the silly/fiddly looking ghia spec multispoke alloys. The ones I have are 16" jobs. They seem lost in the arches. I saw a kuga today on a set of 5 Y spoke alloys in 17x7.5 size.
Would they fit a max okay?
Would the steering need limiters as I guess they'd be wider than stock?
And what size tyres would I be looking at? I'm running 205/55 16s, so I'm guessing 215/45 17s?

Any thoughts?

you would need to check the offset of the wheel to check that it didn't touch anything
several people have 18" alloys fitted and despite the "official line" being that you need rack limiters most say that they have no problems without

a kuga is basicly a cmax with big arches. they use the same running gear basicly as the cmax so if they are genuine ford rims then i dont see why not,its mostly aftermarket rims have odd offsets and buff etc.

I've just fitted some tired looking TSW 17" Alloy wheels to my CMax that was running 16"

No real problems at all - lots of clearance at the front @ both front locks

Diameter Profile is only a few mm difference from the sizes you mentioned.

Only problem I had was that my security bolt socket would not fit in the bolt tunnels!

I had to remove the socket sleve to allow the bolt to fit.
