Just been in touch with my local ford dealer to enquire about price as service schedule says to replace at 75k & mine done 73500. They say may not be neccesary to change DPF, they run a test on it and if ok it's happy days. They need to put some kind of fluid in though and car is deffo due a major service at 75k.
Also came across this on the web,may be worth looking at. or if anyone has had it done, does it work?and is it reliable?

If you do this and the car is not 'as clean' pollution wise a) Will the car fail an MOT b) Are you committing an offence as you are evading paying the full rate of VEL for a vehicle that is not complying with the emission regulations?

the earlier 1.6 TDCI did not all have the DPF filter just depending on what emission standard they were constructed to
Have you got an "S" or a "V" at the bottom of the left hand column on the VIN plate

Mine is euro iv emission standard so according to ford has the DPF fitted, but yes I believe earlier versions of the 1.6 do not have the DPF fitted therefore saving you lots of money!
Perhaps I should have gone for an earlier model
