revving problems - Ford C-Max Forum

can anyone help, got a petrol 1.8 zetec car idles at 1200revs which i know is high and when coming to traffic lights surges over 2000 revs then drops back to 1200revs, any ideas

Hi, what year is it? Cannot remember if they have an electric throttle, does it stumble slightly at idle? Does it hiss more so than usual? Either of these ( including high idle etc ) would suggest an air leak somewhere.

Hi search for my post stef73 engine revs increased it was sometime in november . Mine turned out to be the engine exhaust manifold . Your post sounds the same as what happened to mine .

hi
i had this problem with the same car it was a hole in my breather pipe (5 - 10) they dont cost much but mechanic had to take out starter motor to fix it which pushed the bill up
hope this helps someone else out

c-max zetec 2004 1800 petrol (120)
