I live in a remote area of the West Highlands and often have to reverse into passing places on single track roads. In the dark this is difficult due to the inadequate nature of the standard reversing lights (2009 1.6 Tdci). I would like to fit an additional small reversing light below the rear bumper, I have found a block electrical connector behind the offside corner of the rear bumper, I assume that this is provided to give electrics to a trailer or caravan. Anyone know if this is correct and if so how I could identify the correct socket for a reversing light?

How many wires are in the connector and what colour are they please?
We may be able to offer a possible answer by comparing to the earlier wiring diagram.

Hi, The Bolck you describe sounds like the Parking sensor loom, I assume it comes through a rubber grommett on the O/S?
How about wire in a Relay from reverse light ( switched power for relay )and use the Aux power socket in the rear for powering the Relay with an uprated Aux power Fuse, Uprating the Fuse is OK as Ford stipulate this when fitting Towbar wiring.
