I own a 04 Ghia 1.8 and currently benefit from the Comfort System layout of the rear seats as both of my daughters are quite tall and require the extra leg room.

I was looking to move to a newer, but still second user, model and have been disappointed to find that the comfort system is not standard.

Does anyone know which models have the Comfort System?

The comfort system is where you can sacrifice the three seat layout in the back to a two seat layout by the seats sliding back into the boot space.

Well m7 57 Zetec doesn't have it, so maybe it was a Ghia / Titanium fitment, or indeed an option.

According to parkers website, it looks like it depends on engine as well as trim level, as the 2.0 tdci zetec is listed as having it as standard.

Parker's is wrong. I recently travelled to Birmingham to look at a C-MAX 2.0 Tdci Zetec (136) with a 08 plate and it did not have the Comfort System.

Is this an option that you buy when ordering a new car? In which case Parker's may be right but the first owner decided to have the rear seats fold forward to get more boot space rather than opt for the comfort systemto get more leg room?

Well the 20l petrol auto Zetec doesn't

I didn't think (from reading the handbook) that there was any effect at all on the folding/removal. If you take the seats out you'll see that even though fixed thay have the 45 degree mounts to allow the sliding mechanism to be installed. It'll be part of the seat chassis, not mounted to the car I expect. So, maybe a scrappy would have some.Edited by: rafletcher

Parkers lists the 2.0 tdci ghia having it from launch to March 04 as standard. I can only presume it was an option from then on.

Thanks for this rafletcher.

Do you mean that the rails to slide the seats back on can be purchased and bolted onto the car or I'll have to acquire some new seats with the slidey back thing already attached?

It must have been an option, certainly in later models. I only have two rear seats fitted. I don't need more and prefer to have the extra space and less weight, being a caravanner. I was disappointed to find that, although from underneath the seats appear to have the sliding shaped base, the mechanism is not fitted. Reading the brochure before purchase (second-hand) had led me to believe that it was a standard fit.

P.S. Sorry about the blank page above -- don't know what happened there, another case of non-standard fit.

I was suggesting that you get some complete seats. Condition not important as the mechanism can be swapped over. All model can have 3 seat fitted (3 sets of mounting holes)- some may have 2 plus an armrest.
