Just got our C back from service & MOT.Passed no probs. One thing though,on the new style (black & white ) MOT certs there is a panel for advisory information & on ours it is sayingUnder-tray fitted obscuring some underside components&Engine covers obscuring some components in the engine bay.
As these items are fitted as standard at the factory, does this mean they will have to be removed before the next MOT?
Always something to make life difficult, good old DVLA.

Hi MM, seems like your MOT station being a little pickey & jobs worth!!! i'd be amazed if you were required to remove your under tray & engine cover, i don't know what components they cover that are required to be viewed for an MOT, First i've heard of this, i'm sure others will post on this,

It seems the MOT is covering a lot more things now & these were just advisory.I know such items as traction control & abs will be part of the test fairly soon.

I know the MOT test is going to check other things now like warning lights on the dash etc but i'm struggling to understand what the under tray & engine cover conceal that an MOT tester needs to view the under tray only really covers under the sump, drive shaft gaiters/suspension/ steering & the brakes are all able to be viewed with the under tray on,& the engine cover doesnt cover that much fuel filter, glow plugs etc didn't think these were test items, personally i cannot see many MOT stations removing these covers, the engine cover just pulls up so may be a tester may have a quick look but the under tray requires bolts removing time is money cannot see many of those coming off!!!!!

I had a very nice motor with a totally enclosed underside. When tested the examiner checked what he could get to and made a note on the paper work to that effect. They are not allowed to remove anything so this noted we were all happy bunnies. (I know many of us rely on the test for a health check but this car was a pet and I knew it was good.)
